If the manager proxy does not emulate the real manager at perfection, it most probably won't work. If the proxy supports the same syntax and command for authentication, actions and events, then it should work fine.
Can someone explain how to use FOP2 as Asterisk Manager Proxy? I have a Perl script which is collecting info about member of a queue, and originating calls. I want to use only one AMI proxy on my PBX, and I already use the FOP2.
FOP2 is not a general purpose manager proxy. If you want to intercept events and *do* things based on those, you can install FOP2 and write a plugin. The server side part uses perl, you can check the sample plugin bundled with FOP2 or install any of the free plugins available and inspect their source to see how they work. Its not a proxy but can be used to read AMI events and perform actions.
