Ring Group Display

Hi all,

I've been looking for an alternative to HUDLite and so I'm trying out FOP2. While there is no TAPI for the PC that I can see, it seems to have great promise for switchboard use. Before I purchase the full version, though, I'd like to make sure it does all of what I'm looking for. One of them is to transfer to a ring group. I've read that the software should be able to but I can't get them to show up on the page. In the manager I can see and check them. I've created a group called "Trial". In it I selected 9 extensions, 2 trunks, 1 parking lot, and 3 ring groups. Instead I see 10 extensions. The 9 I selected in the group "Trial" and one other. I see no Trunks, Parking Lot, or Ring Groups.

If I do not choose to place the user in a group I get 14 extensions and a Conference Room so it seems the group is working. Is it because I'm a trial and not the full version?

It's Asteisk 1.4.41 and FreePBX 2.8.1.4.

The closest I can see with my problem is:

but it doesn't seem to have the answer from what I can tell.

Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

The 15 button limit in the lite version is absolute, counting from top to bottom, only the first 15 buttons will be displayed, it cannot be "tricked" by creating groups.

However, you can disable buttons using fop2admin, just check the disable checkbox on some extensions and be sure your ring groups are between the 15 buttons allowed.

The ring groups are created specifically for the purpose of transferring calls to them.

    Best regards,
  • I appreciate the limit of 15 items and I'm not trying to circumvent it. I'm just trying to be sure that we can do all the things we need before purchase. The reason for creating the group was to be able to specify which 15 items showed up on the screen, not to get more than 15 to display. Is there a way I can force a specific group of 15 items to show up so I can test the functionality?
  • I know you are not trying to trick the limit, but using groups for selecting what to display would be a way to trick the limit because you can setup any number of groups. I was just explaining why that approach does not work.

But it seems you did not read the paragraph bellow on how to show other buttons, just DISABLE extensions in the fop2 buttons page to make room for other button types.

Or you can do your own manual configuration.

    Best regards
  • Your right. I was confused on the disable part and went back through the options. It works great, thanks!
