Chrome FOP2 extension 'unable to connect'

The icon in the Chrome toolbar has a scrolling error that says "Unable to connect to server"

I can connect via web browser to the exact IP address and extension and password and the web page comes up fine. However, when I put the same information into the extension, it doesn't connect.

I did not change the port from the default 4445. I did a portscan on the Asterisk server and 4445 is open.

I am running FOP version 2.26
I am running Chrome version 29.0.1547.76
I am running FreePBX too.

When I set up the FOP2 Chrome Extension, I have tried both the DNS name and ip of my Asterisk server. no dice.

Any thoughts???

  • Do you have websockes disabled in /var/www/html/fop2/js/presence.js ? They must be enable.
  • It was not enabled. But, if I enable the websockets in the presence.js file, then I can no longer connect to my /fop2 webpage.

    any other ideas?
  • The chrome extension requires websockets. With websockets enabled you can connect, but if you use https and firefox you have to set something in about:config in your browser as described in http://www.fop2.com/blog

    Best regards,
  • We only use Chrome. We are not using HTTPS for connecting to FOP2.

Are you saying, if I set Websockets to "true", my Chrome plugin will work, but then I will have to use Firefox to get the the FOP2 webpage???

...or is it not possible to access both the Chrome Plugin and the FOP2 website with websockets set to "true"

thanks for your help with this
  • if you use chrome you should not have any issues at all to connect to fop2, version 2.26 and higher. No need to disable anything, in fact, websockets are much preferred.

I pointed you to the article because Firefox has issues with websockets in certain circumstances, and I do not know what browser your users use.
