Remote Access to FOP2

I have FOP2 installed and working for all users on the LAN. Can anyone shed some light on how to get FOP2 working for a remote user through a router. I can get to the FOP2 login screen however once the extension number and password are entered, the panel doesn't appear and shows ;

Connecting to server; attempt number : 1

On the router, I have port forwarded ports 443, 80 and 4445 to the asterisk box.
I am using login credentials that work on the local network.

  • If you are using the standard port 4445 for fop2 and you do not have firewall rules preventing access, it should work from remote. Perhaps you have firewall rules in the asterisk server? Check iptables...
  • Thank you for your reply. I have disabled iptables but still no change. I have also tried to access FOP2 via a VPN tunnel and I get exactly the same symptoms as my original post. It seems I can only use FOP2 via the local LAN.
  • If it works from local and there is no port filters, and you are redirecting fop2 port from the router to the server, then it will work from remote as it does for everyone else. Having connected via a vpn is the same as connecting locally, so it should work too. You can try with another browser too, sometimes flash or security settings on your local machine prevent it from connecting/working. Best regards,
  • Have you solve this problem? This is also happening to my fop2 server as you described.
  • Same response as the previous user:

    If you can connect to FOP2 from within a LAN, but cannot across WAN/Internet, then you are lacking the proper rules to allow/port forward port tcp/4445, that is used by FOP2 for its communication protocol with the web application.

    Any router/firewall sitting between the fop2 server and remote clients must allow/redirect port tcp/4445.

    Best regards,
