Search Function in Contacts hangs

Quite often the search function in my FOP2 contact list just stops working until I do a browser refresh.
I enter the search word, hit enter, but no reaction. My contact list is around 230 entries big.
When this happens I also can no longer scroll down my contact list. The load circle keeps spinning, but doesn't load the next contacts.
A browser refresh solves it temporarily.

I can replicate this. Whenever I perform a click to call action from contacts, it won't react to any searches from the search box anymore, as well as not scroll down beyond the first few contacts until I refresh browser.

The original contacts used a client side search filter, but a few users that had thousands of records complained about slow searches and unresponsive browsers due to that large number of entries (nothing to be concerned on phonebooks with less than 1000 records). So I made a quick change to do infinite scrolling and paginated searches, but it still has some rough edges that need to be taken care of. I am looking into them.
