Blank panel?(!)

I have 1 template defined, and set as the default. This panel shows all extensions, all trunks, parking lot.
When I assign this template to an extension and login, all that displays is an almost blank page (header bar at top shows 'Filter Dial Available' and keypad/account stuff at the right end).
