Button displays *8 instead of the caller's ID when the call is picked up

Hello,
when extension A rings and extension B's user presses *8 (asterisk general pick up) to pick up the call, on the extension B's button *8 is displayed and not the (internal or external) number which originally called phone A. The same happens when the directed pick up (**extension) key sequence is pressed.
Is there a way to change this?
