It does work providing that the channel name you see in core show channels matches the one configured in the fop2 button configuration.
As you have the (i)nterface prefix for the DAHDI, you will have to modify the autconfig-buttons-freepbx.sh script as posted several times already in this forum, first check the names for your channels when you run:
/usr/local/fop2/autoconfig-buttons-freeepbx.sh
Do you see channel=DAHDI/1 instead of DAHDI/i1 ?
